Stress Type Headache

The type of headache is the most common type of headache in the primary headache group. In this pain group, there is no damage to the brain, but the neurological examination is normal.

It manifests as mild to moderate pain, heaviness and pressure.

Causes of Pain;

  • Stress,
  • Insomnia and work environment.

Simple painkillers, muscle relaxants or relaxing, relaxing antidepressants can be used in the treatment. Psychological therapies and relaxation techniques are also used in the treatment of this disease.

Migraine Type Headache

In migraine headaches, one often complains of unilateral headache. It is moderate and very severe, throbbing pain.

Symptoms such as nausea, visual impairment, hazy image or black spots may also occur.

Very severe dizziness such as odour, noise, light sensitivity can occur. Migraine has two treatment options.

The drug is used in the treatment of first-line pain. It can be controlled by depression and epilepsy. Migraine does not completely disappear, but the severity and frequency of pain can be reduced.

Paroxysmal Type Headache

Migraine-like vascular type headache occurs in the discomfort of the end capillaries of the brain.

It takes less than 2 hours, but it can repeat several times in the day when it starts.

If the patient’s details are not taken well, migraine may be treated accordingly. However, when migraine treatment is applied, the results may not be achieved.

Cluster Type Headache

This type of pain is more common in men. It usually occurs in certain seasons and the patient experiences this pain in the same months in previous years.

Very severe half headache, redness in the eye, sweating in the forehead, fall of the eyelid, nasal discharge on the side of the headache are among the symptoms.

Preventive treatments are applied. It is usually mixed with migraine but may not result in migraine treatment.

Trigeminal Neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia is a type of pain that makes the patient’s life difficult. Patients have a terrible pain similar to a lightning flash. This pain, which lasts for 1-2 seconds, is experienced in the form of strikes, like a sinking, electric shock.

In general, around the eye, lower lip, the upper jaw is seen immediately on the teeth. Can repeat hundreds of times during the day.

The success rate of the drug is 60-70 per cent. Some patients may also require surgical procedures. Brain imaging is recommended for these patients. Because this pain may be a sign of MS disease or a brain tumour or may result from an aneurysm.

Intracranial Hypotension

It is a type of headache that occurs as a result of the decrease of cerebrospinal fluid in which the brain is located. The most important feature is the emergence of pain with the position.

When the patient is in a horizontal position, the pain decreases and increases with sitting or standing.

Reduction of the cerebrospinal fluid may develop after the spinal anaesthesia, which may damage the brain and spinal cord, such as surgery, meningitis, tumour, or lumbar function (removal of cerebrospinal fluid from the waist for diagnostic purposes).

Pain in the neck or waist is large and may cause pain due to rupture of the membrane or spinal cord. For the treatment of pain, bed rest, plenty of liquid and caffeine consumption is recommended.

If the headache persists for more than two weeks, it may be necessary to find and repair where the liquid leaks.

Headache Due to İncorrect Drug Use

This type of headache may occur if you take painkillers every day or every other day for more than two months.

Pain, especially in patients with migraine and tension-type headache may persist if pain relief continues for three months. Stopping the use of the painkiller for treatment is useful.

The person who is forbidden to take medication may face terrible headaches for a certain period.

But after a while, the headache suddenly disappears. It usually takes two weeks. This process requires a long period of sleep and plenty of fluid.

Sinusitis

Most of the sinusitis pains are migraine or tension-type headache. In general, the nose and nasal flow are accompanied by.

These pains are more common especially in the period of influenza. In the diagnosis of sinusitis headache, most patients have normal blood tests and no head x-rays may be seen. Improvement is achieved with correct antibiotic treatment.

Temporal Arteritis

It is a type of rheumatic pain seen in elderly people due to inflammation of the temporal arteries in the temple area.

If not diagnosed early, it can cause blindness.

If the pain starts unilaterally and temporarily, if the temple area is sensitive, if the patient has rheumatic pain, if the sedation value of blood tests is high, this type of pain is suspected.

For the diagnosis of the disease, a biopsy is performed and cortisone treatment is started.

Meningitis Headaches

Headache due to meningitis is suspected in patients who have recently had a febrile illness, did not get results from antibiotic treatment, do not respond to painkillers, have persistent headache, unconscious headache, and neck difficulty if there is loss of consciousness, nausea, lethargy and vomiting. These headaches are difficult to diagnose.

And it can be life-threatening if not diagnosed early.

Diagnosis is made by taking brain imaging, tomography, MRI and waist sample. Antibiotic treatment is started without waiting for laboratory results.
